CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Atlantic Coast Conference Outdoor Track & Field programs will once again be in the national spotlight with a strong presence at several high-caliber meets throughout the country. With less than one month until the 2026 ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, teams are beginning to make their final pushes for qualifying marks and standards, while also positioning themselves for the NCAA Championships.
The Penn Relays in Philadelphia will be full of elite talent, including members of 14 ACC outdoor track & field programs. One of the most historic and prestigious track & field events in the world, the Penn Relays are gearing up for its 130th year with more than 17,000 athletes competing and more than 100,000 fans expected to be in attendance. The three-day event will be streamed live on FloTrack. Collegiate running events beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 23, and field events beginning at noon ET.
Louisville will host the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Open this weekend, beginning Thursday, April 23. The event is Louisville’s lone home meet of the season before hosting the 2026 ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships from May 14-16. Competition begins at 10 a.m. ET Thursday with the women’s hammer throw, while the combined events will commence just after noon ET. Notre Dame and Virginia Tech will head to the Derby City to take part in the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Open.
On Friday, April 24, and Saturday, April 25, Duke and North Carolina will travel to Charlotte, North Carolina, to compete in the Charlotte Invitational. Notre Dame will send student-athletes to Allendale, Michigan, for the Grand Valley State Extra Weekend Meet, while SMU will head to Waco, Texas, for the MJ Invite.
