ACC Announces Outdoor Track & Field Performers of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced its Outdoor Track & Field Performers of the Week on Tuesday, recognizing six standout efforts from five different programs. Virginia led the way with a pair of selections following a fierce weekend of competition across the league.
 
ACC Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Aiden Neal, North Carolina, Sr. (Manchester, Md.)
  • Won the 1500 meters at the Duke Invitational, beating out a field of 123 runners.
  • His time of 3:39.84 leads the ACC and ranks eighth nationally.
 
ACC Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Jeremiah Nubbe, Virginia, Sr. (Yelm, Wash.)
  • Won the hammer throw at the Duke Invitational with a mark of 70.11 meters.
  • He still leads the ACC and ranks fourth nationally this season.
 
ACC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Freshman of the Week
Liam Paneque, Virginia, Fr. (Demarest, N.J.)
  • Finished fourth in the long jump at the Duke Invitational.
  • His mark of 7.36 meters ranks second in Virginia freshman history.
  • Also finished 10th in the triple jump with a personal best mark of 14.50 meters.
 
ACC Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Braelyn Baker, Duke, So. (Carnation, Wash.)
  • Won three events at the Duke Invitational.
  • Won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.34 seconds after turning in a personal-best time of 11.32 seconds in the prelims.
  • Took first in the 200 meters with a personal-best time of 22.76 seconds, setting both program and meet records.
  • Helped the Blue Devils also win the 4x100 meter relay in 43.88 seconds, breaking an 11-year-old meet record.
 
ACC Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Valentina Saava, California, So. (Larnaca, Cyprus)
  • Won the hammer throw at The 131st Big Meet between Stanford and California.
  • Her mark of 68.18 meters leads the ACC and ranks fifth nationally.
 
ACC Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Freshman of the Week
Sadie Engelhardt, NC State, Fr. (Ventura, Calif.)
  • Set the NC State record in the 800 meters at the Duke Invitational, clocking a time of 2:02.31.
  • Finished second in the event as she broke the nine-year-old school record.
