CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) - Seven league matches are scheduled this weekend in Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer.
A pair of games air on ESPN's networks on Friday, September 26, beginning with Clemson at No. 13 Wake Forest at 6 p.m. ET on ESPNU in a rematch of the 2024 ACC Championship Game, and followed by the nation's new No. 1-ranked team, NC State, traveling to Pitt at 7:30 p.m. ET on ACC Network.
Noting ACC Men's Soccer
• ACC teams have combined for a 55-15-16 record in non-conference play (.733 win percentage, best of any league). They were 8-0-1 in non-conference play this week.
• Six ACC teams are ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Poll: NC State (1), Stanford (6), Virginia (12), Wake Forest (13), Duke (16) and Notre Dame (21). That is the most of any league.
• In the NCAA's Thursday RPI report, 10 ACC teams stand among the top 40, highlighted by NC State (2), Notre Dame (10) and Virginia (11).
• Ranked No. 1 nationally for the first time in program history, NC State is the only team nationally that has yet to concede a goal this season. The Wolfpack ranks first nationally in goal differential (+25) and goals per game (3.12).
• NC State's Donavan Phillip leads the nation in goals with 12. The next closest player has eight. Clemson's Ransford Gyan is seventh nationally with seven goals.
• This is Week 4 of nine weekends of conference play. Virginia Tech is idle in ACC play this weekend.
• Five ACC standouts were named to the Men’s Hermann Trophy Watch List: Ransford Gyan (Clemson), Ulfur Bjornsson (Duke), Luca Nikolai (UNC), Casper Svendby (Pitt) and Cooper Flax (Wake Forest).
• ACC teams have won 20 NCAA men’s soccer championships, with 11 since 2001, including three of the last four (Clemson 2021 & 2023, Syracuse 2022). Eight active ACC programs have won at least one national championship, the most of any conference. The 15 active ACC schools have combined for 20 titles.
• At least one ACC team has reached the Men's College Cup in 22 of the last 24 seasons. Thirteen of the 15 active ACC programs have reached the College Cup. Sixty-five ACC teams have reached the College Cup all-time.
