CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Stanford sophomore midfielder Trevor Islam and Virginia sophomore midfielder Luke Burns shared Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Boston College freshman goalkeeper Andrej Borak and Virginia graduate goalkeeper Casper Mols shared ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors for matches played from September 8-14, as announced Tuesday.
Trevor Islam, So., M, Stanford (Mill Valley, California)
• Scored a pair of game-winning goals to lead No. 8 Stanford to victories over Saint Mary's and Syracuse.
• Islam's go-ahead goal on Tuesday came in the 68th minute, making a move on the Gaels’ goalkeeper and converting on a wide-open cage.
• On Sunday, Islam played the rebound off his blocked shot and converted on the second-chance opportunity (85') for Stanford's second goal in the final 10 minutes, completing the comeback win over Syracuse.
Luke Burns, So., M, Virginia (Scottsdale, Arizona)
• Scored a 73rd-minute game-winning goal to defeat No. 6 Louisville 1-0 on the road.
• His goal was the first Louisville has conceded in 2025.
• The game-winner secured four points from two road matches against top-10 opposition to open ACC play.
• Burns created another dangerous chance to put UVA up 2-0 in the final minute of the game.
Andrej Borak, Fr., GK, Boston College (Belgrade, Serbia)
• Made a career-high six saves in BC's 1-0 road victory over No. 14 Virginia Tech.
• Earned his third shutout of the season.
Casper Mols, Gr., GK, Virginia (Aabenraa, Denmark)
• Recorded five saves in a shutout performance to secure a 1-0 win at No. 6 Louisville.
• His performance secured four points from two road matches against top-10 opponents to open ACC play.
• Mols recorded his fourth shutout in six games.
• His five saves mark the second-highest single-game total this season.
• Three of his five saves came in the final 25 minutes of the games.
Men’s Soccer Notes
• ACC teams have combined for a 44-13-14 record (.718 winning percentage, best of any conference).
• NC State (5-0-1) and Wake Forest (4-0-2) and Duke (2-0-3) remain unbeaten in 2025.
• NC State is one of three teams nationally that have yet to concede a goal this season.
