CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – With the 2026 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship getting underway this weekend, nine Atlantic Coast Conference schools will compete in the regional round. Regionals begin Friday, May 29, and run through Monday, June 1, at campus sites around the country.
The regional format for the Division I baseball championship is a double-elimination tournament, with the 16 regional-winning teams advancing to the super regionals, scheduled for June 6–9. The top eight remaining teams will host the super regionals in a best-of-three series, with the eight winners advancing to the Men’s College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
At least one ACC team has reached the Men’s College World Series in each of the past 19 years it has been held, with multiple ACC teams advancing 12 times during that span. The ACC has placed a total of 36 teams in the past 19 Men’s College World Series, averaging just under two per season.
Georgia Tech, the 2026 ACC Baseball regular-season and tournament champions, will host a regional for the first time since 2019 and 13th time in program history. On Sunday, May 24, the Yellow Jackets became the first team to win both the ACC regular-season and championship titles in the same year since 2013. This season, Georgia Tech has won 30 games at home and 48 games overall. The Yellow Jackets opens tournament play against UIC at noon ET on Friday on ACC Network and also will be joined in the Atlanta Regional by Oklahoma and The Citadel.
North Carolina will host a regional for the 15th time in program history. The Tar Heels will look to advance to the Men’s College World Series for the second time in three years, with the path beginning at Boshamer Stadium. Throughout 2026, the Tar Heels have posted a 28-6-1 record at home. The Tar Heels start regional play at 5 p.m. ET on Friday against VCU on ESPN+ and also will be joined by Tennessee and East Carolina in the Chapel Hill Regional.
Florida State is hosting a baseball regional at Dick Howser Stadium for the 38th time in tournament history, the most of any school. The Seminoles boast a 38-17 mark this season, including a 27-4 record at home. The Seminoles will face St. John’s at 3 p.m. ET on Friday on ACC Network in their tournament opener and also will host 2025 national runner-up Coastal Carolina and Northern Illinois as part of the Tallahassee Regional.
In the Athens Regional, Boston College will take the field as the No. 2 seed. The Eagles will face No. 3 seed Liberty in the opening round, beginning at 2 p.m. ET on Friday on ESPN+. The Athens Regional also includes No. 1 seed Georgia and No. 4 seed Long Island.
Miami begins the NCAA tournament as the No. 2 seed in the Gainesville Regional and will face No. 3 seed Troy at 6 p.m. ET on ACC Network. The Hurricanes will meet either No. 1 seed Florida or No. 4 seed Rider in their second game.
NC State will travel to Auburn, Alabama, as the No. 3 seed in the Auburn Regional. The Wolfpack will face No. 2 seed UCF on Friday at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN2 in their opening contest. Also competing in the Auburn Regional are No. 1 seed Auburn and No. 4 seed Milwaukee.
Virginia will begin the Hattiesburg Regional as the No. 2 seed and will face No. 3 seed Jacksonville State at 7 p.m. ET on Friday on ESPN+. The Cavaliers’ first tournament appearance under head coach Chris Pollard also features No. 1 seed Southern Miss and No. 4 seed Little Rock.
Virginia Tech will travel to Los Angeles, California, for the Los Angeles Regional, where the Hokies will face No. 3 seed Cal Poly on Friday at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN+. This marks the Hokies’ first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2023. The Hokies will be joined by No. 1 national seed UCLA and No. 4 seed Saint Mary’s.
Wake Forest will participate in the Morgantown Regional as the No. 2 seed, facing No. 3 seed Kentucky at noon ET on Friday on ESPN2. Also competing in the Morgantown Regional are No. 1 seed West Virginia and No. 4 seed Binghamton.
