ACC Unveils Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Boston College sophomore attacker Giulia Colarusso and North Carolina sophomore attacker Chloe Humphrey shared Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week honors, while BC senior goalkeeper Shea Dolce was selected as the ACC Defensive Player of the Week for games played from March 23-29.
 
Nine ACC women’s lacrosse teams are ranked among the top 25 teams in the latest IWLCA poll, the most among all conferences. Three ACC teams stand in the top 10, with North Carolina at No. 2, Syracuse at No. 4 and Stanford at No. 10. Also among the top 25: No. 11 Clemson, No. 13 Boston College, No. 14 Notre Dame, No. 17 Duke, No. 22 Virginia and No. 24 Pitt.
 
CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF WEEK – Giulia Colarusso So., A, Boston College (Leominster, Massachusetts)
• Turned in a stellar performance in the Eagles’ 13-11 upset win over No. 2 Stanford, handing the Cardinal their first loss of the season and BC’s highest-ranked victory of the campaign.
• Recorded her third hat trick of the season with three goals and one assist for a team-high four points; she also corralled a team and game-high seven draw controls, tying a career high.
• With the score tied at 9-9 in the fourth quarter, Colarusso broke the tie with her second goal, followed by an assist to give BC an 11-9 advantage.
• Collected pivotal draw controls on back-to-back possessions after Stanford cut the deficit to one and after BC sealed the game with a late score in the final 3:53 of the contest.
• Leads the team with 25 goals and ranks second with 39 draw controls.
 
CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF WEEK – Chloe Humphrey, So., A, North Carolina (Darien, Connecticut)
• Had another big week posting 11 goals and six assists in games against No. 11 Northwestern and ECU.
• Opened the week with six goals and an assist against Northwestern and followed that with five goals and a career-high five assists versus ECU.
• Currently leads the nation in goals (57) and points (83) and is tied for 18th nationally with 26 assists.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF WEEK – Shea Dolce, Sr., GK, Boston College (Darien, Connecticut)
• Totaled 11 saves with a .500 save percentage and added three ground balls in BC’s win over No. 2 Stanford.
• Eight of her saves came in the second half.
• Her performance was highlighted by a pivotal save in the fourth quarter with two minutes left that kept the score 12-11 in the Eagles’ favor.
• It marked her fourth game with 10 or more saves this season.
