CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Wake Forest freshman second baseman Dalton Wentz was tabbed the Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Week, while Pitt junior left-handed pitcher Ryan Reed was named the ACC Pitcher of the Week for games played March 31-April 6.
 
Wentz went 8-for-16 (.500) at the plate in four games last week, including a 6-for-13 (.462) weekend to help lead Wake Forest to a series win at No. 4 Florida State. The freshman launched a homer in all three games of the series against the Seminoles, becoming the first Demon Deacon to hit a home run in each game of an ACC series since Nick Kurtz did so in 2024. Wentz also posted a 1.125 slugging percentage for the week while driving in 11 runs.
 
Reed threw seven shutout innings in Pitt's game two win of the doubleheader against Miami on Friday, April 4. The junior struck out five and allowed just four base runners while notching his third win of the season. It's the second time this year that Reed has tossed seven scoreless innings in a start, after shutting out Monmouth in February. The junior from Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, is now seven strikeouts away from eclipsing the century mark for his career.
